Teaching the Truth in Love

Words and music: Keith Lancaster © 1996 Anthony K. Music (ASCAP).
This song also appeared on Act of God by Acappella.
Producers Note: "If we could only speak the truth in love the way Jesus did.  It seems we go from one extreme to the other; either we timidly fail to share the truth altogether or we confront people with a detestable and offensive spirit.  Jesus is the perfect role model in displaying human interaction with truth combined with unparalleled compassion.  Although this song received great radio response in it's original version, we re-recorded the song with the popular concert version for Acappella: The Collection. Barry Wilson does a tremendous job on lead."
Lead:  Barry Wilson
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

Chorus:
Are we teaching the truth in love
Telling it like it is
Are we holding pure motives,
Showing that we care
Are we teaching the truth in love

A man came to my Jesus
Telling all that he had done
To fulfill the good commandments
He knew every single one
But Jesus said there's something
That indeed he did lack
The savior told the truth
He didn't hold the message back

He was teaching the truth in love
Telling it like it is
While holding pure motives
And showing that He cared
He was teaching the truth in love

A woman caught in evil and without an alibi
The truth, so very obvious, made no attempt to lie
With all the foes against her how she felt so all alone
Until Jesus asked the people who would throw the first stone

He was teaching the truth in love
Telling it like it is
While holding pure motives
And showing that He cared
He was teaching the truth in love, in love, in love, in love

Sometimes it's hard to know exactly how we are to share
With our Master's words of confidence, directly, do we dare?
Should we water down the message, should we tell them only parts?
Will they see Him in our message, will they see Him in our hearts?

Repeat Chorus (x2)

Are we teaching the truth in love
Telling it like it is
Are we holding pure motives,
Showing that we care
Are we teaching the truth,
Are we teaching the truth,
Are we teaching the truth in love, in love, in love

Scriptural Reference:

"Instead, speaking the truth in love, we will in all things grow up into him who is the Head, that is, Christ."  Ephesians 4:15

Only Truth

Words and music: Keith Lancaster © 1993 Anthony K. Music (ASCAP)
This song also appeared on Set Me Free by Acappella and Hear It In Our Voice by The Acappella Company.
This song won the 1994 CARA for "Best Signed Professional Song."
Producer's Note: "The laughing you hear in the beginning is Gary Moyers, amused at some studio bloopers.  You can tell it's a genuine laugh.  We thought it would be fun to keep it in the mix.  Wayburn Dean has to be one of the greatest voices I have ever heard in my life.  His work on this song, on the song "Rescue," as well as many others is an outstanding expression of emotion and style."
Lead: Wayburn Dean
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

All You ever said before no matter what it was
It was the truth - ever lovin' truth
Every time You spoke a word the voice of God was
Being heard - I know it was truth

It was the truth it was nothing but the truth
Only truth comes from You
It was the truth it was nothing but the truth
And it's all You can do

All You've ever done before no matter what You've chosen
It was right - You are always right
Every time You willed a way and
Everything You've had to say - I know it was right

It was the truth it was nothing but the truth
Only truth comes from You
It was the truth it was nothing but the truth
And it's all You can do

Chorus:
Only truth, loving truth
Only truth, loving truth

(You know it was your Word
And it was the truth
every lovin' truth
You are always right, all you do is real
Truth comes from you, and it's only you)

Turning to the pages of the Bible of the ages
It was real - All You do is real
Everything You've written down we all will count
On been sound - we know it was real

It was Your word
It was nothing but Your word
That inspired those men
It was Your word
It was nothing but Your word
That will teach us again

(verse one)

Repeat Chorus

Scriptural Reference:

Jesus uses the phrase "I tell you the truth" over 75 times in the New Testament.
"For the law was given through Moses, grace and truth came through Jesus Christ." John 1:17

Special Delivery

Words and music: Keith Lancaster © 1998 Anthony K. Music (ASCAP)
Producer's Note: "The new song written just for this collection has the simple, recognizable Acappella treatment of different voices interweaving into a mehodical and unified effort.  We are flattered to hear quartets around the world singing our songs and hope this becomes another avenue for believers to share their faith."
Lead: Ken McAlpin (chorus), Kevin Schaffer (verses), and Barry Wilson (stepout)

Lyrics:

Chorus:
You've given your love to me
Special delivery
You've given your love to me
Special delivery

Repeat Chorus

When I was in a special need
You gave a special answer
Especially considering my plight
Discovering my broken heart
You did not leave me helpless
Quickly stealing me away from night

Now I am so happy
You did not let me down
You overcome my struggle with that game
Now I know the victory
In overcoming sin
Whenever I just call upon Your Name!

Repeat Chorus

When You were a special boy
A human on this earth
Tempted every way but without sin
Bearing all the sacrifice
And trouble that we'd given
In spite of this You gave us second birth

Now I am committed
To telling everyone
That You are not a myth, you are the LORD!
I'm encouraged every day
And daily I'm assured
To gaining strength from feasting on Your Word (yeah)

Repeat Chorus

Chorus 2:
Through trouble, danger, sword
I will trust in the Lord
You've given me all I need
I call You desperately
You answer graciously
You've given Your love to me

Stepout:
Special delivery and your home above
Given your love to me
Desperately I call oh yes
Given your love to me
You've given your love, given your love
Given your love to me
You've given me all I need
By giving your love to me
We'll you've given your love to me
You've given your love, given your love
Special delivery

Scriptural Reference:

"You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance."  Psalm 32:7

Rescue

Words and music: Keith Lancaster © 1990 Anthony K. Music (ASCAP)
This song also appeared on Rescue by Acappella, as part of The Medley on this album, and in Spanish as "Veniste al Salvarme" on Español by Acappella.
Producer's Note: "Of all the songs I have written, we have probably received more touching comments about 'Rescue.'  Apparently, this song ministers to a lot of people who can relate to the common plight of hopelessness in depending upon ourselves, and of the inexpressible elation that comes from surrendering your heart to the God of love, who only wants to lavish his affections upon us.  No matter what your situation is, God's unfailing love is standing by and anxious to provide relief to your weary heart.  Thank God!"
Lead: Wayburn Dean
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

Lord You know everything I've done
Every thought I've had, You know every one
And Lord You know every time I fall
Still You come to my rescue when I call

Lord You hear every idle word,
Every thoughtless deed, how it seems absurd
That Lord You give, not what I am due
But mercy; You come to my rescue

You come to my rescue, rescue (x4)

Lord You care and You've become my friend
Amazing love whose boundaries have no end
And Lord You show what a greater love can do
By being there for my rescue

And Lord I give all I can give (all my heart)
All of my heart as long as I shall live
So Lord, oh Lord, I just want to thank You
For coming, coming to my rescue

You come to my rescue, rescue (x4)

It's hard to tell You just how grateful I am
But I'm still gonna make it show.
With every breath gonna let You know

I am accepting though I can't comprehend
How I could be worth the cost
When I was bound, despised and lost

Lord I give all I can give (all my heart)
All of my heart as long as I shall live
So Lord, oh Lord, I just want to thank You (I really want to thank you)
For coming, for coming to my rescue

You come to my rescue, rescue (x2)
He is always there for me (rescue, rescue)
And he'll be right, right there for you (rescue, rescue)
Oh Lord I know I don't deserve it (rescue, rescue)
But you love me anyhow (rescue, rescue)
You come to my rescue (rescue, rescue)
Keep on coming to my rescue (rescue, rescue)

Repeat last two lines and fade

Scriptural Reference:

"The Lord upholds all those who fall." Psalm 145:14
"Grace and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age." Galatians 1:18

Hush

Words: George Pendergrass © 1993 Anthony K. Music (ASCAP)/Clifty Music (BMI)
Arrangment: George Pendergrass Gary Moyers, Duane Adams, and Wayburn Dean © 1993 Anthony K. Music (ASCAP)/Clifty Music (BMI)
This song also appeared on Set Me Free by Acappella, Live From Paris by Acappella, and There Are No Words by The Sounds of Glory.
Producer's Note: "The closest version of a doo-wop street song on the album, the theme of God's provident care is continued with this tune.  It's one of those catchy melodies that continue to ring in your head long after the concert.  With this positive message, you won't mind."
Lead: Wayburn Dean
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

Chorus:
God is standing by
So hush, don't you worry
Don't cry
God is standing by
So hush, don't you worry
Don't cry

Repeat Chorus

And when troubles come
Don't cry, no don't cry
When all your dreams
And would be fortunes pass you by
And when there is heartache
So many trials and life's unclear
Just look up toward heaven
There's a God and He's standing near

Repeat Chorus

And when there is parting
All your friends and loved ones leave you
And you hurt so bad
You feel you just don't know what to do
And if you're wondering if there's anybody who
Really cares
Let me assure you, that there's a God
and He'll be right there

Repeat Chorus (x2)

So hush, don't you worry
Don't cry
Hush

Scriptural Reference:

"Therefore, I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear.  Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes?"  Matthew 6:25

Get to the Point

Words and music: Keith Lancaster and Gary Moyers © 1996 Anthony K. Music (ASCAP)/Clifty Music (BMI)
This song also appeared on Act of God by Acappella.
Producer's Note: "Gary Moyers sings the lead on this song, which we co-wrote.  I love the bantering back and forth that takes place on the chorus between the inquirers saying 'Get to the point!' as Mo calmly tells them that he will do just that.  Kevin Schaffer provides some magical vocal interludes that remind me of a rotating carousel."
Lead: Gary Moyers
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

I was busy minding my own business
Simply trying to stay on top of my game
Never thinking about consequences
Always finding me somebody to blame
But then it came together
When I read this letter
A message from somebody named Paul
He wrote of One who bought me
All the things he taught me
I really thought I'd heard it all

Chorus:
Get to the point: I will if you ask me
Get to the point how have you changed?
I was on sinking ground
Until He turned me around
And I know I'll never be the same
Get to the point: I'm trying to tell you
Get to the point what have you done?
It is not what I've done
But what He's doin' for me
And I know we've only just begun

We've only just begun

Now I'm busy mindin' my Father's business
Tryin' to do what He told me to
And I still have that wonderful letter
Knowin' every time I read it it's new
Today I never worry
My vision's never blurry
I've found Someone to handle the stress (Jesus)
I know you really need Him
So would you like to meet Him
I'm prayin' that the answer is yes

Repeat Chorus

Bridge:
All your efforts will be in vain (No matter what you do)
Trying to save yourself will drive you insane (He sees you through and through)
Crossing that final change with confidence (I'm crossing that line)
Is what you can do through His providence

Repeat Chorus (x2)

Scriptural Reference:

"You were bought at a price; do not become slaves of men." 1 Corinthians 7:23

Softly and Tenderly

Words and music: Will L. Thompson (1880)
Arrangement: Gary Moyers © 1994 Clifty Music (BMI)
This song also appeared on Hymns for All the World by Acappella, Hear It In Our Voice: Volume II by The Acappella Company, and Memories by The Sounds of Glory.
Producer's Note:  "The album Hymns for All the World includes some offerings in Spanish, Portuguese, French, German and Russian as well as our native English tongue.  On this classic hymn, Duane Adams lends his expressive voice in describing God's passion for a relationship with us."
French Lyrics:  Jonathan Sargent
Lead: Duane Adams
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling
Calling for you and for me
See on the portals he's waiting and watching
Watching for you and for me

English Chorus:
Come home, come home
Ye who are weary, come home
Earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling
Calling, O sinner come home

Why should we tarry when Jesus is pleading?
Pleading for you and for me
Why should we linger and heed not his mercies?
Mercies for you and for me

Repeat Chorus

Oh, pour le merveilleux amour qu'il a promis
Nous a promis, toi et moi
Et bien que nous pechions, Il nous offre son pardon
Pardon pour toi et our moi

French Chorus:
Reviens, reviens
Toi, qui te lasses reviens
Sincerement, tendrement, Jesus appelle
(T')Appelle, oh pecheur, reviens

Repeat English Chorus

Scriptural Reference:

"As a prisoner of the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received."  Ephesians 4:1

If There Were No God

Words and music: Keith Lancaster © 1995 Anthony K. Music (ASCAP)
Arrangement: Don Marsh © 1995 Anthony K. Music (ASCAP)
This song also appeared on Beyond a Doubt by Acappella and Hear It In Our Voice: Volume III by The Acappella Company.
Producer's Note: "This song may be the greatest understatement of all.  John 1 says 'Through Him all things were made: Without Him nothing was made that has been made.  In him was life, and that life was the light of men.'  God is.  Period.  The only thing more astounding than the vastness of God's awesome power is His love for us!  I love diversity in an album and believe it is a strong point of our releases.  With that in mind, I asked Don Marsh to arrange this song.  The music flows beautifully and Steve Reischl shines brightly throughout."
Lead: Steve Reischl
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

If there were no God there would be no music
There would be no dream to be dreaming of
What a dreadful thought of an empty future
If there were no God there would be no love

If there were no God there would be no children
There would be no joy to relieve our tears
Not a tender hand to provide us comfort
No consoling heart to subdue our fears

Chorus:
But we know that God is with us
And we know His majesty
Reigning now, the King eternal
Yes we know the victory

If there were no God there would be no sunshine
There would be no rain to refresh the earth
There would be no jewels to display their value
There would be no thought of enduring words

If there were no God there'd be no creation
There would be no light there would be no breath
No surpassing joy nothing in existence
If there were no God all would be death

Repeat Chorus (x2)

Yes we know, yes we know the victory
Yes we know the victory

Scriptural Reference:

"Here is a trustworthy saying that deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners--of whom I am the worst.  But for that very reason I was shown mercy so that in me, the worst of sinners, Christ Jesus might display his unlimited patience as an example for those who would believe on him and receive eternal life.  Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever.  Amen."  1 Timothy 1:15-17

My Lord And My God

Words and music: Keith Lancaster © 1993 Anthony K. Music (ASCAP)
This song also appeared on Set Me Free by Acappella and in Spanish as "Mi Señor y Mi Dios" on Español by Acappella.
Producer's Note: "Gary Moyers is a remarkable man.  His voice has been heard with Acappella longer than any other member.  He is talented, intelligent, witty and a model to all who want to be a dependable friend, devoted spouse, and loving parent.  In addition to being president of Acappella Ministries, he and his family travel full time with the group.  He and Kevin share the lead in concert on this song.  It is based on that utterance of 'Doubting' Thomas upon seeing his resurrected savior, 'My Lord and My God!'"
Lead: Gary Moyers
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

The Alpha and Omega
The Beginning and End
The God of All Creation
And My Personal Friend

O Lord, You've been good to me
You came to rescue and to set me free
O God, What can I say?
Your loving kindness blesses every day.

My Lord and My God
My Lord and My God

O Father, how did it feel
To give your only Son my sin to repeal?
O Jesus, why did you take it?
Now through your suffering I know I can make it

My Lord and My God
My Lord and My God

The Alpha and Omega
The Beginning and End
The God of All Creation
And My Personal Friend

O Spirit, give me Your leading
Give me the power and direction I'm needing
O Lord, I'm not deserving
But with my every breath I want to be serving

My Lord and My God
My Lord and My God

Scriptural Reference:

Good Livin'

Words and music: Keith Lancaster © 1991 Anthony K. Music (ASCAP)
This song also appeared on We Have Seen His Glory by Acappella and Acappella Favorites by The Acappella Company.
Producer's Note: "This song has been the perfect concert opener for Acappella.  We had a lot of fun shooting a video of this song in our hometown of Paris, Tennessee.  The police closed a downtown street while we joined a bunch of friends parading in the street before the camera."
Lead: Various, primarily George Pendergrass
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

Come on y'all and gather around
That is why we've come to this town
There is nothing better to do
So we're gonna cut loose and sing for you

Chorus:
We're gonna harmonize and we're gonna shout
We're gonna tell you what good livin's about
I don't know about anyone else
But I've gotta cut loose and sing myself

Come on y'all and grab you a part
There's no better way for us to start
We'll sing 'en fast and we'll sing 'en slow
So get off your sear and just let go

Repeat Chorus

We're gonna sing We're gonna sing (repeat 4x)
We're gonna harmonize and shout
Gonna tell you what good livin's about
We're gonna sing, we're gonna shout
We're gonna sing, Let's sing
Gonna Sing Let's sing Yea!

Scriptural Reference:

"Speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs.  Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ."  Ephesians 5:19-20
"Is any one of you in trouble?  He should pray.  Is anyone happy?  Let him sing songs of praise."  James 5:13
The book of Psalm has numerous references to singing for the Lord including the following:

Everybody Said (But Nobody Did)

Words and music: Keith Lancaster © 1990 Anthony K. Music (ASCAP)
This song also appeared on Rescue by Acappella, Live From Paris by Acappella, and in Spanish as "Todo Mundo Dijo" on Español by Acappella.
Producer's Note: "One of the few comedic songs in Acappella's repertoire, this song always brings chuckles to the concert audience.  This song was the very first music video we ever attempted.  The video was shot with no budget on a mission trip.  It turned out pretty good!  I made a cameo appearance driving a car as Acappella sang out the windows.  George Pendergrass is a rare vocal talent and dear brother with a servant's heart."
Lead: George Pendergrass
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

Chorus:
Everybody said that anybody could do
The important things somebody should do
Everybody knows that anybody could do
All the good things that nobody did

Well the preacher came to me and said what I ought to do
If I wanted to make my religion true
He'd do it himself but he really didn't have the time
He said that the duty was mine

Repeat Chorus (x2)

Well the deacon came by and said give me a hand
If you want to be going to the promised land
Here is something that I don't have time to do
So I better give it to you

Repeat Chorus (x2)

Well I'm too busy so I tell everybody
The work's got to get done by somebody
It could be done by anybody
But nobody, nobody, nobody did

Repeat Chorus (x2)

All the good things that nobody did (x2)

I'm At Your Mercy

Words and music: Keith Lancaster © 1995 Anthony K. Music (ASCAP)
This song also appeared on Beyond a Doubt by Acappella.
Producer's Note: "Songwriters get ideas from unusual and unexpected sources.  During a time when I was tired of constantly hearing about the O.J. Simpson trial, I decided to write a song with a court room as the back drop.  Many of our singers have tremendous vocal range.  Although Robert Guy normally sang bass, he was all over the map with this song."
Lead:  Robert C. Guy
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

As I stood inside the courtroom
The judge came walking in
There was One who stood beside me
A compassionate friend
As he spoke my situation
I knew that he was in control
Of the destiny of my eternal soul

With a hush the crowd awaited
To receive the words he'd say
A finality was pressing
Like no other day
To reveal my destination
That was what I soon would know
To eternity, where was I to go?

Chorus:
Yes, your honor, I'm at your mercy
You can do with me
Just as you please
Please remember
My testimony
The blood of Jesus
Covers me

When the time came for the verdict
The anticipation rose
But the people knew too well
The path in life they chose
Those who had not cared to answer
When in life he gave the call
Or had known his grace and love
Only to fall

But as he looked in my direction
I was not afraid
'Cause the nailed-scarred hands
Were there defending me
But then he rose to give the answer
As we bowed unto the Lord
He said "Well done my child,
Great is your reward"

Repeat Chorus (x2)

Please remember
My testimony
The blood of Jesus
Covers me

Scriptural Reference:

"But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy.  He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior."  Titus 3:4-6

Let There Be Love

Words and music: Gary Miller © 1996 Anthony K. Music (ASCAP)
This song also appeared on Act of God by Acappella.
Producer's Note: "One of my all time favorite writers is Gary Miller.  He has written for all of our artists, including Acappella, AVB, The Vocal Union, and Acappella Children.  He is now actively leading The Vocal Union.  This song is an anthem conveying every Christian's heart-felt prayer.  The ending is different from the original.  I love the way this song continues to build and build;  And I've forgotten just how many keys it goes through."
Lead: Steve Reischl (1st Verse, 1st Chorus), Gary Miller (2nd Verse, 2nd/3rd Chorus), Gary Moyers (4th Chorus), and Kevin Schaffer (5th Chorus)
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

Once there was love long ago
Sweet innocence long ago
Please tell me where did it go
Out of our hearts out of our world
Then Someone came in the night
Came to lead men to the light
Turn us around make us right
Bring love to our hearts love to the world

Chorus:
Let there be peace (around the world)
Let there be joy (around the world)
Let there be hope (around the world)
Let there be love (around the world)

Let there be love

My friend what the world needs now
Truly is love, God's love
We need to change somehow
Changing our hearts changing our world

I know our God He can do
His love is strong and His word is true
We need to take the Good News
Into our hearts into our world

Repeat Chorus

Chorus 2:
Let freedom ring (all around the world)
Let children sing (all around the world)
Crown Jesus King (all around the world)
Let there be love (all around the world)

Love in our hearts will bring
Change to our world you will see (wait and see)
Setting the captives free
Causing the blind eyes to see (you will see)

Repeat Chorus

Repeat Chorus 2

Let there be peace, yeah (around the world) (let it be, let it be)
Let there be joy, joy (around the world) (let it be, let it be)
Gotta show the world joy and hope, in Christ, 'Cause He is love (around the world) (let it be, let it be)
Doesn't matter what you've got 'less you have love (around the world) (let it be, let it be)
Gotta have love just to set you free, yeah, yeah (around the world)
(Let children sing) Let children sing (around the world)
(Crown Jesus King) Crown Jesus King (around the world)
He's the Lord of lords, He's the King of kings

Let there be love, oh yeah
Let there be love (let there be love)

Not My Will But Thine

Words and music: Keith Lancaster © 1978 Anthony K. Music (ASCAP)
This song also appeared on Born Again by New Life (TN), Heaven Will Be My Home by Keith Lancaster and Set Me Free by Acappella.
Producer's Note:  "I wrote this song over 20 years ago.  In borrowing from a choral, spiritual style, I tried to create the scene at the cross; the defining moment in history.  God became something he was not (sin), so we could become something we are not (righteous).  George Pendergrass masterfully expresses a taste of the emotion surrounding the crucifixion."
Lead: George Pendergrass
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

Jesus prayed in the garden and poured out His heart for me
There has been no love shown my mortal as in dark Gethsemane

He could have chosen not to suffer treatment of the cruelest kind
But the lips of my pure savior uttered not my will but thine.

Part Ia-

Jesus prayed in the Garden, he prayed oh (repeated)

Part Ib-

Let me tell you what he went through
You know he really didn't have to
He could have easily just walked away
Then he said "not my will but thine"

And they took them and they beat him and they mocked him and teased him
The people kept a cryin "We gotta crucify Him"
"Crucify Him! Crucify Him!"
Yet he said "not my will but thine"

Part IIa-

Jesus died on Calvary, he died oh (repeated)

Part IIb-

Well they hung him there in anger searchin' for some relief
They nailed him there in public right between the two thiefs
He tasted human torture of the cruelest kind
But yet he said "not my will but thine"

Some were laughin', some were cryin' some were happy at his dyin'
I don't see, I can't see how could this ever be?
Poor Jesus as he hung on the tree he said
"Not my will but thine"

Not my will but thine

Scriptural Reference:

"Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, "My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me.  Yet not as I will, but as you will."  Matthew 26:39

Walking That Line

Words and music: Gary Moyers and Keith Lancaster © 1996 Anthony K. Music (ASCAP)/Clifty Music (BMI)
This song also appeared on Act of God by Acappella.
Producer's Note:  "Kevin Schaffer's crystal clear tenor voice glides effortlessly through this song of triumph and determination, reminding us that we don't lose unless we give up."
Lead: Kevin Schaffer
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

I will hold up my head
Proudly march where I am lead
Now that I see the way
I'm walking it day by day
I will not fear this road
Gladly I'll bear this load
And I will not think twice
Because I am walking with Christ

Chorus:
I'm walking that line - never look back
I'm walking that line - I'm on the right track
I'm never alone - He's holding my hand
And everything's fine cause I'm walking that line
To the promised land

Why don't you walk with me
Travel eternity
Staying within His light
Keeping the end in sight
We will not go astray
Together His will obey
And we will win the fight
We are walking with Christ

Repeat Chorus

Bridge:
Though my feet may often stumble
I will not be down for long
He has called me to commitment
And my resolutions strong
So when satan clouds the vision
And his poison darts are thrown
I will look back at these challenges
Just to see how much I've grown

Repeat Chorus

I'm walking that line - never look back (Don't look back now, keep your eyes on the Lord)
I'm walking that line - on the right track (Stay on track now)
I'm never alone - He's holding my hand (Let Him take ahold of your hand now)
And everything's fine cause I'm walking that line
To the promised land

And everything's fine cause I'm walking that line
I'm walking that line (walking that line)

Scriptural Reference:

"It has given me great joy to find some of your children walking in the truth, just as the Father commanded us." 2 John 4

Well on My Way

Words and music: Keith Lancaster © 1988 Anthony K. Music (ASCAP)
This song also appeared on Sweet Fellowship by Acappella and in Spanish as "Camino Con El" on Español by Acappella and Hear It In Our Voice: Volume II by The Acappella Company.
Producer's Note: "When I wrote the lyrics for this song, the music was much slower and completely different.  Before a concert in Arkansas, I tried the song out with the guys.  After deciding the music just didn't have the right feel, I put the lyrics away and started an entirely different song with the 'Sing His Praises, Sing His Praises' motif that sounded really nice.  We played with that for awhile and became excited about this new song concept.  Once we decided that the song was a keeper, I retired to another room to write soem verses for the song.  I immediately pulled the lyrics out of my pocket from the previous song which had been 'shelved' and brought those words back to life as the verses of this song.  It was an exciting process watching this song unfold.  This high-energy song presents one of the greatest thrills to sing in concert.  Of all the songs on this album, this is the only one of me singing the lead vocal."
Lead: Keith Lancaster
Stepouts: Wayburn Dean, Gary Moyers, George Pendergras, Rodney Britt
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

Sing His Praises, Sing His Praises!
Sing His Praises, Sing His Praises!
Sing His Praises, Sing His Praises!
Sing His Praises, Sing His Praises!

Listen Well, I'm on my way, I'm singin' everyday, liftin' up my Savior who died.
Listen and my soul will cry: I'm completely satisfied all because I'm well on my way.

Chorus:
(I'm well on my way)  Sing His Praises, Sing His Praises!
(Now that I'm well on my way)  Sing His Praises, Sing His Praises!
(Don't you know I'm well on my way)  Sing His Praises, Sing His Praises!
(I'm well on my way)  Sing His Praises, Sing His Praises!

Ever since I'm on my way I've got better things to say, better 'cause I'm on the right track.
I'm complete, nothing I lack, now there is no turning back, listening to Jesus, the way.

(I'm well on my way)  Sing His Praises, Sing His Praises!
(All because I'm well on my way)  Sing His Praises, Sing His Praises!
(All because I'm on my way)  Sing His Praises, Sing His Praises!
(I'm well on my way)  Sing His Praises, Sing His Praises!

Bridge:
Well on my way, well on my way, well on my way!
Well on my way, well on my way, well on my way!
(Now that I'm well on my way)
Well on my way, well on my way, well on my way!
Well on my way, well on my way, well on my way!

Listen Well, I'm on my way, I'm singin' everyday, liftin' up my Savior who died.
Listen and my soul will cry: I'm completely satisfied all because I'm well on my way.

Repeat Chorus
Repeat Bridge

The way!

Scriptural Reference:

"Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, "This is the way; walk in it."  Isaiah 30:21

Lyrics:

["He Gave Her Water" Lead: Gary Moyers]

Chorus:

Oh, Jesus (he gave her water) he gave her water (he gave her water)
You know, my Jesus (he gave her water) gave her water (he gave her water)
Oh, Jesus, (he gave her water) gave her water (he gave her water)
and it was not from the well

Repeat chorus

Well there was a woman from Samaria
Who came from the well to get some water
And there she met a stranger
And he did her story tell
She left my savior singing
She came back to him bringing
The time she had living water
And it was not from the well

Repeat Chorus

["More Than A Friend" Lead: Gary Moyers]

Intro:

More than a friend (well, he's more than a friend)
More than a friend (well, he's more than a friend)
More than a friend (he's more than a friend)
More than a friend

Well, he's more than a friend
More than a friend
Yes, he's more than a friend to me ('cause he gave up his life)
'Cause he gave up his life (and at oh)
and at oh such a price
and he's more than a friend to me

People keep on searchin' for that perfect friend (perfect friend)
Who'll they'll trust with their compassion and their confidence
'Cause they need someone to love them in the deepest way (the deepest way)
Hear what I'm about to say

He was willing to give his life, ultimate sacrifice
He was God made flesh and put to death for me
Now you know it's easy to see

That he's more than a friend
More than a friend
Yes, he's more than a friend to me
'Cause he gave up his life
And at oh such a price
And he's more than a friend
More than a friend
More than a friend to me (more than a friend)

["His Righteousness" Lead: Ken McAlpin]

God made him who had no sin
So that we might become his righteousness
Well, instead of ourselves he offered him so
So that we might become his righteousness
So that (so that we might become his righteousness)
So that (so that we might become his righteousness)

Whoa-oh, holy God was offered for us
So that (so that we might become his righteousness)
So that we might become (so that we might become his righteousness)

["Lead Me To Rest" Lead: Barry Wilson]

Lead me to rest, sweet Lord
Lead me to rest
From my journey here, lead me to rest
The relief I've found
From the burdens that've weighed me down
Lead me to rest
Lead me to rest
Lead me to rest
Lead me (lead me to rest)
Lead me to rest, oh Lord

Outro x 4:
Oh, Lord, won't you lead me (won't you lead me)
Lead me to rest (won't you lead me, won't you lead me to rest)

["Rescue" Lead: Barry Wilson]

Chorus

Rescue, rescue
Rescue, rescue

Lord, you know everything I've done
Every thought I've had, you know every one
And Lord, you know every time I fall
Still you come to my rescue when I call

And Lord, you hear every idle word
Every thoughtless deed
How it seems absurd
That, Lord, you give, not what I am due
But mercy, mercy, aw, mercy
You come to my rescue

You come to my rescue (rescue)
You come to my rescue (rescue)
Thank you, Father (rescue)
For comin' to my rescue (rescue)
You come to my rescue, yes (rescue, rescue)
Thank you, Lord (rescue)
For comin' to my rescue (rescue)

["We Have Seen His Glory" Lead: Barry Wilson]

We have seen his glory
Oh, what an awesome power from above
We have seen his glory
Yeah, Jesus (we have seen his glory) the one (the one and only son)
The one and only son

We have seen his glory
We have seen his glory
We have seen how he works in our lives today
We have seen his glory
The one (the one and only son)
The one and only son

["I Have A Friend" Lead: Barry Wilson]

I have a friend (I have a friend, I have a friend)
Who went to Calvary, to Calvary
He said I'll die (die, die)
But I'll sho 'nuff rise again
Again

I have a friend
They call him Jesus
I have a friend
The angels praise his name (praise his name)
The angels praise his name (praise his name)
The angels praise his name (praise his name)
Well, all right, come on and praise him, uh-huh

["Criminal On the Cross" Lead: Barry Wilson]

Well, it was many years ago, in the time of the Bible
that they took him up to Calvary (up to Calvary)
They should have let him go, but instead they chose Barabus
just to set another criminal free (just to set him free)
When they crucified the ever-lovin' carin' Master
with compassion flowing from His eyes
Well, He said to a thief who was begging Him for mercy
that "Today you´ll live in Paradise."

Hmm, I´m saved (I'm saved, I'm saved) like the criminal on the cross
Praise God, I´m saved, yes, (I'm saved, I'm saved) no more to suffer loss
Well, he said I´d live in Paradise
And He's taken care of the cost
Hallelujah, I´m saved (I'm saved, I'm saved) like the criminal on the cross
I´m saved (I'm saved, I'm saved) like the criminal on the cross

["Let's Get Together" Lead: Gary Moyers]

Well, it's time we stopped the fighting and start giving our love to each other
(give it to them, give it to them, we've got to learn to love them)
Oh, don't you know that they're never gonna see
how we're lovin' our Lord unless we're givin' our love to each other
(let's give them our love)

Let's get together
Let's stop the fighting
Let's start uniting
Whoa-whoa-oh

Repeat 5 times
