Oh, I am a servant of God (servant, servant, servant, servant) And I
am a slave of the Master Jesus (slave of the Lord) And I write to
you To the churches of the world (churches of the world) To the ones
in every nation The body of Christ (says to you)
Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello, Hello
Scriptural Reference:
"James, a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, To the twelve
tribes scattered among the nations: Greetings." James 1:1
Chorus: Consider it pure joy When you face trials, trials of many
kinds (joy, joy) Consider it pure joy Know that the tests of your
faith Can make you steadfast, patient and wise (joy,
joy) Perseverance must finish its work (joy, joy) That you may be
complete Not lacking anything Consider it pure joy When you face
the many trials of life (joy, joy)
Trials of life (joy, joy)
Blessed is the man Who endures trials again and again When he has
stood the test He will receive the best The crown of life which God
has promised To those who love Him Be patient as you wait for God's
return Like the farmer waits for rain For his harvest to
confirm Take courage and persevere For the coming of our Lord is
near
Repeat Chorus
Pure joy (joy, joy)
As an example of suffering and patience Look at the prophets who
spoke in God's name We know how happy they were Because they stayed
true to God Even though they suffered great pain Job is an example
of steadfast trust Bringin' joy in God's master plan The Lord is
tender and merciful (merciful) Compassionate to all men
Consider it pure joy Consider it pure joy Consider it pure
joy Consider it pure joy Consider it pure joy
When you're feelin' lonely When your heart is way down When your
friends forsake you And you feel alone
Repeat Chorus
When you face the many trials of life, pure joy (joy, joy)
Consider it pure joy
Scriptural Reference:
"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many
kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops
perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be
mature and complete, not lacking anything. " James 1:2-4 "Blessed
is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test,
he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love
him." James 1:12 "Be patient, then, brothers, until the Lord's
coming. See how the farmer waits for the land to yield its valuable crop
and how patient he is for the autumn and spring rains. 8You too, be
patient and stand firm, because the Lord's coming is near." James
5:7-8 "Brothers, as an example of patience in the face of suffering,
take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord. As you know,
we consider blessed those who have persevered. You have heard of Job's
perseverance and have seen what the Lord finally brought about. The Lord
is full of compassion and mercy." James 10-11
Quick to hear what's good and true Quick to hear the best about
you Quick to listen, slow to speak Slow to say a word unkind Slow
to say what's on my mind (Quick and slow) Quick to listen, slow to
speak
The tongue is slight like the spark of an ember Set the world on
fire And even though it's just a small member It can take us all
higher A word can tear the people apart Or heal a broken heart
Repeat Chorus
A tongue that's full of the deadly poison It brings the sting of
death A tongue that's full of the sweet Holy Spirit Is a life-giving
breath A word can curse and defile and can injure, or A word can
praise the Lord
Repeat Chorus
Don't want to fall for the wordly deception And lose my
goal Don't want to practice a worthless religion And lose my
soul Don't want to promise what I can't deliver And I don't want to
be cold
Repeat Chorus
(Quick to listen, slow) Quick to listen, slow (Quick to listen, slow
to speak) Quick to listen, slow to speak
Scriptural Reference:
"My dear brothers, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to
listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man's anger does not
bring about the righteous life that God desires." James
1:19,20 "If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a
tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is
worthless." James 1:26 "We all stumble in many ways. If anyone is
never at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to keep his
whole body in check. When we put bits into the mouths of horses to
make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal. Or take ships as an
example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they
are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go.
Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great
boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark.
The tongue also is a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the
body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on
fire, and is itself set on fire by hell. All kinds of animals,
birds, reptiles and creatures of the sea are being tamed and have been
tamed by man, but no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil, full
of deadly poison. With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and
with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness. Out of
the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers, this should not be.
Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring?
My brothers, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs?
Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water." James 3:2-12 "And
the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will
raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be forgiven." James 5:15
Chorus 1: Do what it says, have faith Look into the Word and go
through with it Do what it says, have faith Your actions speak
louder than words
Is it good when he boasts of faith And does nothing Can such
faith save him? He sees the sick and the poor and then he does
nothing Faith by itself is dead He says be well, keep warm and
fed And does nothing Doesn't even give them bread His actions
speak louder than his words
Repeat Chorus 1
She's alone after 50 years And you do something To comfort her
distress He's so young and now he's on his own And you do
something You live a life that God accepts The world tries pullin'
and you hold back Then you do nothing Pure and faultless is what God
sees Don't forget the words you have heard
Repeat Chorus 1
You believe there is a God (even demons believe) Faith without deeds
is nothin' A man's faith and actions must work hand in hand (to make
his faith complete) Justified by what he does and not by faith alone
Chorus 2: Do what it says, have faith (read the word) Look into
the Word and go through with it Do what it says, have faith (read the
word) Your actions speak louder than words
Repeat Chorus 2
Chorus 3: Do what it says, have faith (have faith, have
faith) Look into the Word and go through with it Do what it says,
have faith (have faith, have faith) Your actions speak louder than
words
Scriptural Reference:
"Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what
it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says
is like a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at
himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But
the man who looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and
continues to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it--he
will be blessed in what he does. " James 1:22-25 "Religion that God our
Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and
widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the
world." James 1:27 "What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims
to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? Suppose a
brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. If one of you
says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does
nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? In the same way,
faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. But
someone will say, "You have faith; I have deeds." Show me your faith
without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do. You believe that
there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that--and shudder.
You foolish man, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is
useless? Was not our ancestor Abraham considered righteous for what
he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? You see that his
faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made
complete by what he did. And the scripture was fulfilled that says,
'Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,' and
he was called God's friend. You see that a person is justified by
what he does and not by faith alone. In the same way, was not even
Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave
lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction? As
the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead."
James 2:14-26 "Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do
and doesn't do it, sins." James 4:17
There is a party He doesn't have many social graces A definite
party But he just seems to watch the faces turn away When he tries
to play their games And he sits as he stays while the cliques and
clichés Fill the room like a cold, cold wind Hoping for nothing
more Than to be treated like a friend (Treated like a friend)
Chorus 1: God has chosen those who are poor (God has chosen) In
the eyes of the world to be rich in faith (faithful ones) God has
chosen those who are poor (God has chosen) In the eyes of the world to
receive his grace (rich in grace) (And this kingdowm) And the kingdom
He has promised (Those who love Him) To those who love Him so God
has chosen those who will follows His ways (those who will follow His,
follow His ways)
Every Sunday Everyone sits in their normal pews It's a regular
Sunday Passing around all the gossip and news We cultivate our
social circles once more Then we hurry away to get on with the
day Say goodbye with an empty grin Passing by a brother who's trying
to find the Lord again
Chorus 2: God has chosen those who are poor (God has chosen) In
the eyes of the world to be rich in faith (faithful ones) (to be rich in
faith) God has chosen those who are poor (God has chosen) In the
eyes of the world to receive his grace (rich in grace) (amazing
grace) (And this kingdowm) And the kingdom He has promised (Those
who love Him) To those who love Him so God has chosen those who will
follows His ways (those who will follow His, follow His ways)
The riches of this evil world Are only fleeting things (only
fleeting thindgs) So live for Him and find the wealth That only He
can bring
Repeat Chorus 1
God has chosen those who will follow Those who will follow His ways
Scriptural Reference:
"My brothers, as believers in our glorious Lord Jesus Christ, don't
show favoritism. Suppose a man comes into your meeting wearing a gold ring
and fine clothes, and a poor man in shabby clothes also comes in.
If you show special attention to the man wearing fine clothes and say,
'Here's a good seat for you,' but say to the poor man, 'You stand there'
or 'Sit on the floor by my feet,' have you not discriminated among
yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts? Listen, my dear
brothers: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world
to be rich in faith and to inherit the kingdom he promised those who love
him? But you have insulted the poor. Is it not the rich who are
exploiting you? Are they not the ones who are dragging you into court?
Are they not the ones who are slandering the noble name of him to
whom you belong? If you really keep the royal law found in
Scripture, 'Love your neighbor as yourself,' you are doing right.
But if you show favoritism, you sin and are convicted by the law as
lawbreakers. For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at
just one point is guilty of breaking all of it. For he who said, 'Do
not commit adultery,' also said, 'Do not murder.' If you do not commit
adultery but do commit murder, you have become a lawbreaker. " James
2:1-11 "The brother in humble circumstances ought to take pride in his
high position. But the one who is rich should take pride in his low
position, because he will pass away like a wild flower. For the sun
rises with scorching heat and withers the plant; its blossom falls and its
beauty is destroyed. In the same way, the rich man will fade away even
while he goes about his business." James 1:9-11 "Now listen, you rich
people, weep and wail because of the misery that is coming upon you.
Your wealth has rotted, and moths have eaten your clothes.
Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against
you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last
days. Look! The wages you failed to pay the workmen who mowed your
fields are crying out against you. The cries of the harvesters have
reached the ears of the Lord Almighty. You have lived on earth in
luxury and self-indulgence. You have fattened yourselves in the day
of slaughter. You have condemned and murdered innocent men, who were
not opposing you." James 5:1-6
Selfish ambition The truth it is denied Oh the bitter
envy It's a spiritual demise
Battles burn within you Passions pounding your heart All for your
own pleasure That's how you play the part
Chorus: God gives grace to the humble (God gives grace, God gives
grace, God gives grace, God gives grace) Everything your hearts desire
(God gives grace, God gives grace, God gives grace, God gives
grace) Even when we fall and stumble (God gives grace, God gives grace,
God gives grace, God gives grace) God gives grace to the humble (God
gives grace, God gives grace, God gives grace, God gives grace) God
gives grace to the humble God gives grace to the humble God gives
grace to the humble God gives grace to the humble
Devilish motivation Your love is crucified Strife and
segregation Quarrels and endless fights
Godly opposition Surely justified Holy acquisition Victim of
evil pride
Repeat Chorus
God gives grace to the humble Thinkin' you can be a friend of the
world? God gives grace to the humble Change the rules from day to
day? God gives grace to the humble Pride is your home, you don't
understand God gives grace to the humble Why things can't be my way
God gives grace to the humble (God gives grace, God gives grace, God
gives grace, gives grace to the humble) Everything your hearts desire
(God gives grace, God gives grace, God gives grace, everything your heart
desires) Even when we fall and stumble (God gives grace, God gives
grace, God gives grace, when we stumble) God gives grace to the humble
(God gives grace, God gives grace, God gives grace, God is giving grace to
the humble) God gives grace to humble (God gives grace, God gives
grace, God gives grace, God gives grace) God gives grace to humble (God
gives grace, God gives grace, God gives grace, God gives grace) God
gives grace to humble (God gives grace, God gives grace, God gives grace,
God gives grace)
Scriptural Reference:
"But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do
not boast about it or deny the truth. Such 'wisdom' does not come
down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, of the devil. For
where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and
every evil practice." James 3:14-16 "What causes fights and quarrels
among you? Don't they come from your desires that battle within you?
You want something but don't get it. You kill and covet, but you
cannot have what you want. You quarrel and fight. You do not have, because
you do not ask God. When you ask, you do not receive, because you
ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures.
You adulterous people, don't you know that friendship with the world
is hatred toward God? Anyone who chooses to be a friend of the world
becomes an enemy of God. Or do you think Scripture says without
reason that the spirit he caused to live in us envies intensely? But
he gives us more grace. That is why Scripture says: 'God opposes the proud
but gives grace to the humble.'" James 4:1-6
Chorus: Now who is wise and understanding among you? (Let us see
how good His life can be) Oh (Working wisely in humility) Who is
wise and understanding among you? (Ask of God he gives it gen'rously)
Oh (Never doubting, praying faithfully)
Without a doubt Elijah prayed to God that it would stop
raining Without a doubt Elijah lived what he believed, he
believed Without a doubt God heard his prayer and made the earth run
dry Without a doubt Elijah prayed again, the rains fell from the
sky!
Repeat Chorus
Never doubt but pray in faith Without a doubt We will serve and
pray and never stop praising Without a doubt We will live what we
believe, we believe Oh, without a doubt God hear our prayers, knows
our pain, and tears He'll dry Without a doubt We pray again, His
blessings fall from the sky! From the sky Oh yeah, oh yeah
Believing He's tuning and blending our hearts together And without a
doubt our hearts will be as one You see believing he's changing,
enabling - we're living forever And without a doubt we're living in the
Son Without a single doubt
(Let us see how good his life can be) Hey (Working wisely in
humility) Without a doubt (Ask of God he gives it gen'rously)
Ooh (Never doubting, praying faithfully) Ah yeah
Scriptural Reference:
"Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good
life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom." James
3:13 "But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then
peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit,
impartial and sincere." James 3:17 "If any of you lacks wisdom,
he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and
it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not
doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed
by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from
the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does." James
1:5-8 "Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed earnestly that it would
not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years.
Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced
its crops." James 5:17-18
There's only one (only one, only one) Only one (only one, only
one) Only one (only one, only one)
Speak no evil Against each other For you speak against the
law If you slander your brother If you're judging others You're
judging the law You're not keeping it at all
Chorus: There's only one judge (only one judge, only one) Only
one lawgiver (only one judge, only one) Able to destroy (only one
judge, only one) And able to deliver (only one judge, only one) Only
one judge (only one judge, only one) Only one lawgiver (only one judge,
only one) Who are you to judge your neighbor? Oh yeah, who are you
to judge your neighbor?
Not many of you Should be teachers, you see For teachers will be
judged With great severity Don't grumble against each other Less
you be condemned The judge is standing up, the Lord is comin' in
Repeat Chorus
(Only one) Speaking without slander Loving over law Mercy over
judgment, freedom (Only one) Speaking without slander Loving over
law Mercy over judgment, freedom (only one judge)
There's only one (only one, only one) Only one (only one, only
one) Only one (only one, only one) There's only one (only one, only
one) Only one (only one, only one) Only one (only one, only one)
Repeat Chorus
Bridge: Only one judge, a-only one (x8) (with stepouts) Only one
lawgiver able to deliver (x8) (with stepouts)
Repeat Chorus
Oh, who are you to judge your neighbor? Oh, who are you to judge
your neighbor? (Only one judge!)
Scriptural Reference:
"Brothers, do not slander one another. Anyone who speaks against his
brother or judges him speaks against the law and judges it. When you judge
the law, you are not keeping it, but sitting in judgment on it.
There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the one who is able to save and
destroy. But you--who are you to judge your neighbor?" James
4:11-12 "Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law
that gives freedom, because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone
who has not been merciful. Mercy triumphs over judgment!" James
2:12-13 "Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers,
because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly."
James 3:1 "Don't grumble against each other, brothers, or you
will be judged. The Judge is standing at the door!" James 5:9
(Together we will stand We are in His hands It's the Father's
will)
Chorus: If it is the Father's will We will live and we will do
this or that If we would his word fulfill And together we
stand If it is the Father's will We will prosper as we do His
commands And His promises fulfill We are in His hands The
Father's will (Together we will stand We are in His hands It's
the Father's will)
Our days are like a vapor Here now but soon they're gone It's
time to love your neighbor It's time to hear the Son
Repeat Chorus
What's going on tomorrow? What's happening today? In all our joys
and sorrow This is what we should say:
Repeat Chorus
(Hear the Father's call) Listen to the Father Listen to His words
good and true Don't worry 'bout tomorrow Things are goin' better for
you Leave it to the Father He has such a powerful way Don't worry
'bout tomorrow Live today
Repeat Chorus
Scriptural Reference:
"Instead, you ought to say, 'If it is the Lord's will, we will live and
do this or that.'" James 4:15
Chorus: Pray for the sick and anoint them with oil in Jesus'
name The prayer of faith will make them well in Jesus' name
Confess your sins to each other And pray for each other that you may
be healed The earnest prayer of the righteous Is very powerful and
full of results
Repeat Chorus
Is anyone (anyone) among you suffering (anyone) Then let him
(anyone) keep on praying about it (anyone, pray about it) Is anyone
(anyone) among you happy (anyone) Then (anyone) let him keep on singing
about it (anyone), bout it
Repeat Chorus
(Raise us up) Let the Lord raise us up (Sins forgive) Our sins He
will forgive (Raise us up) Let the Lord raise us up (Life to live)
Abundant life to live
Repeat Chorus (x3 with stepouts)
Pray for the sick and anoint them with oil in Jesus' name
Scriptural Reference:
"Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him
sing songs of praise. Is any one of you sick? He should call the
elders of the church to pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name
of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick
person well; the Lord will raise him up. If he has sinned, he will be
forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for
each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is
powerful and effective. Elijah was a man just like us. He prayed
earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for
three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain,
and the earth produced its crops. My brothers, if one of you should
wander from the truth and someone should bring him back, remember this:
Whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save him from death
and cover over a multitude of sins." James 5:13-20
Is anyone of you in trouble? He should pray Is anyone of you
happy? Let him sing a song of praise Is anyone of you
hurting? Call the elders in And do whatever it takes to keep the
world away And your life free from sin
Chorus 1: (Come near to God) Come near to God (Near to you) And
He will come near to you (hear His word) Receive the Word (near you)
which has been planted in you Cleanse your hands and purify your
heart God is gonna give you a brand new start (Come near to God)
Come near to God (Near to you) And He will come near to you (Come a
near to God, He will come a near to you) To you (Come a near to God, He
will come a near to you) He will come near (Come a near to God, He will
come a near to you) Come near to you (Come a near to God)
Don't be deceived, my brother Every good gift comes from God He
does not shift like the shadows He is my staff and my rod You got to
resist the devil And he will flee far from view In humility, seek
Him on your knees The Lord will come straight to you
Repeat Chorus 1
Everyday there are people Who wander far from the truth Some
you'd think would know better Some in the prime of their youth But
if you can turn a sinner From the err of His way It's a way to save
him, cover all his sin Brother hear what I say: You got to...
Repeat Chorus 1
Chorus 2: (Come a near to God, He will come a near to you) (He'll
come so close) (Come a near to God, He will come a near to you) (He'll
come so close) (Come a near to God, He will come a near to you) (Run
straight to you) (Come a near to God, He'll be near) (Come a near to
God, He will come a near to you) (He'll come so close) (Come a near to
God, He will come a near to you) (He'll come so close) (Come a near to
God, He will come a near to you) (Run straight to you) (Come a near to
God) (He'll be so close)
Pure religion that has come from Father Is to help widows and
orphans in need To keep oneself unspotted by problems Is how we
serve our Father indeed Why don't you...
(Come near to God) Come near to God (Near to you) And He will come
near to you (hear His word) Receive the Word (near you) which has been
planted in you Cleanse your hands and purify your heart God is gonna
give you a brand new start
Repeat Chorus 1
Repeat Chorus 2
(Come a near to God, He will come a near to you) (He'll come so
close) (Come a near to God, He will come a near to you) (He'll come so
close) (Come a near to God, He will come a near to you) (Run straight
to you) (Come a near to God) (Yes, He'll be so close)
Scriptural Reference:
"Is any one of you in trouble? He should pray. Is anyone happy? Let him

say, 'God is tempting me.' For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he
tempt anyone; but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is
dragged away and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it
gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.
Don't be deceived, my dear brothers. Every good and perfect
gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights,
who does not change like shifting shadows. He chose to give us birth
through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of firstfruits of all
he created." James 1:13-18 "Therefore, get rid of all moral filth
and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in
you, which can save you." James 1:21 "Religion that God our
Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and
widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the
world." James 1:27 "Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the
devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come
near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you
double-minded. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to
mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord,
and he will lift you up." James 4:7-10 "My brothers, if one of
you should wander from the truth and someone should bring him back,
remember this: Whoever turns a sinner from the error of his way will save
him from death and cover over a multitude of sins." James 5:19-20
