How do I buy an album listed on your
site? At this time, Acadisc.com does not sell albums
directly. We instead direct you to the group's sites where you can
buy them directly to support the groups. Near the top of each
Acadisc page is "Available through..." and a link to the group's
website. If you are looking for an album that does not have lyrics
yet, please go to Acadisc Links and find the
link to the group there. Occasionally a page will say "Not currently
available." This means that the group no longer sells that
album. If you see this, try searching the internet for the album or
looking on sites like Ebay.
I would like to record a song that
appears on your site, what do I do? Try contacting
the person who wrote the song. If you are unable to contact them
directly, try contacting the group that recorded the song (by visiting
their webpage and emailing them) and seeing if they can help you contact
the author and obtain permission. The editors of this webpage cannot
authorize the recording of any song that appears on the site.
Where can I find sheet music for a song
that appears on your site? Some groups have sheet
music available on their websites. For instance, The Acappella
Company sells print and downloadable sheet music for some of their albums
at http://www.theacappellacompany.com If this is not
available, try contacting the person who wrote the song. If you are
unable to contact them directly, try contacting the group that recorded
the song (by visiting their webpage and emailing them) and seeing if they
can help you contact the author. Another alternative is searching
the internet (Try http://www.google.com) for the title of the song in
quotations along with "sheet music" (eg. "Amazing Grace" "sheet
music").
Where can I find the lyrics for a
song that does not appear on your site? Try searching
the internet (Try http://www.google.com) for the title of the song in
quotations along with "lyrics" or a few words from the song in
quotations (eg. "Amazing Grace" "that saved a wretch like me"). If
the song is a traditional hymn, try Cyberhymnal. The editors of this site have had
significant success using these methods - if you are unsuccessful with
them, contact Ken and he will
attempt the search.
Can I buy one of the albums listed on your
page - do you sell any of them? Most albums listed on
the site are available through the websites of the groups that recorded
them (see the top of the Acadisc lyrics pages or the links page).
The only group that Acadisc.com currently assists in selling their albums
directly through our website is Glorify Him. To purchase Glorify Him
albums, please click
here.
Can I get .mp3s of the songs on your
website? At this time Acadisc.com does not have song
clips available on our site. However, many of the groups listed on
our site have clips available through their webpages. You can find
links to these pages on the links page.
I would like to add my group's album
with lyrics as an Acadisc, how do I do this? It is
our policy that, except in rare circumstances, one of the editors of
Acadisc.com must have a copy of an album for it to appear on our website
(this is so that content is standardized). That said, we make every
effort to make arrangements with groups that wish to have their album
lyrics on our site. In some cases one of our editors may already
have the album - in those cases we will work on adding it as soon as
possible. In other cases, groups have donated a copy of their album
to one of our editors so that they could work on adding the album.
Please email Ken to arrange for your
album to be added to the site. Please keep in mind that in some
cases there can be a delay of up to several months in adding the album due
to the number of requests we have for adding albums - if you are able to
send an attachment with album information and/or lyrics, the process is
usually a little faster.
Can you link to my
webpage? If your website is related to Christian
acappella music, email Ken with the
URL and a brief description and he will add a link. A reciprical
link is appreciated. If your website is not related to Christian
acappella music, we will not add a link to it unless there are unique
circumstances (Christian charities, etc.).
Are you affiliated with any specific church
or denomination? In short, no. The editors of
the Acadisc
Team come from all over the country and, while several of us
are members of independent churches of Christ (which generally use
acappella worship in their services), acappella music has roots in
many places of worship and we welcome all those interested in
acappella music to our website.
Can I become an editor and/or help out
with your site? We welcome additions and/or
corrections from everyone. If you are interested in joining the
Acadisc Team, please email Ken with your name and
how you would like to help. Our biggest needs at this time are web
saavy Christians who can help with website design, maintenance, and/or
promotion. However, we will welcome any requests to help.
How was this website
designed? Most of the website design was done by Ken
with initial help from AOLPress software and various sources around the
internet. Ken currently maintains the site using Trellian WebPage
software along with Notepad HTML editing. We are looking for ways to
upgrade the site using more recent webpage design techniques.
I don't see any ads on your pages, how is
this site paid for? We are committed to keeping
this website free to visitors as well as ad free. The site has grown
such that it now costs approximately $100 per year to maintain in addition
to a significant amount of time. Our only established
sources of paying for the site are donations through Paypal (see
below). We are currently funded through December 2003 thanks to the
generosity of an anonymous donor. If you would like to suggest ways
to cover our expenses in the future, please email
Ken.
Donations accepted to help cover site expenses (Paypal)
Can you help me sell Christian acappella
albums that my group has/I have? We
have provided this service for Glorify Him in the past and we
would be willing to help any other groups that wish to sell their albums
through our site. A small commission to help cover the expenses of
the site is appreciated, but not required. Please email
Ken with any requests. Currently we do not allow
individuals to sell albums through our site, but please email
Ken if you have albums you wish to sell.
Acadisc is a synopsis of various albums of Christian
acappella groups. It is written by The Acadisc Team and is very open to
additions and/or corrections. These can be addressed to Ken at ken@acadisc.com.
