Spoken Album Intro: With every passing generation, one of the most
powerful forces felt in the Church of our Lord is the influence of
faithful Christian mothers and grandmothers. Most of us have many
precious memories of these women either humming or singing the old
favorite hymns of the Church as they work or even as a lullaby when they
tucked us into bed. The lady pictured with us on this recording is
Sister Hallie Stevens, mother of three gospel preachers, Eldridge Stevens,
R.J. Stevens, and Lanier Stevens who sings the Baritone in our
quartet. To her and to each of our mothers this album is
affectionatly dedicated as we remember the songs that mother used to
sing.
Words and music: J.B.F. Wright This song also appeared on Our Family

Lyrics:
Precious memories, unseen angels Sent from somewhere to my
soul How they linger, ever near me And the sacred past unfold
Chorus: Precious memories, how they linger How they ever flood my
soul In the stillness of the midnight Precious sacred scenes
unfold
Precious father, loving mother Fly across the lonely
years And old home's scenes of my childhood In fond memory
appear
Repeat Chorus

"But Timothy has just now come to us from you and has brought good news

Words and music: William M. Golden (1914) Lead: None
Lyrics:
To Canaan's land I'm on my way Where the soul of man never
dies My darkest night will turn to day Where the soul of man never
dies
Chorus: No sad farewells (Dear friends, there'll be no sad
farewells) No tear dimmed eyes (There'll be no tear dimmed
eyes) Where all is love (Where all is peace and joy and love) And
the soul (of man) never dies
I’m on my way to that fair land Where the soul of man never
dies Where there will be no parting hand Where the soul of man never
dies
Repeat Chorus

There's a beautiful place called heaven It is hidden above the
bright blue Where the good who from earth ties are riven Life in
love an eternity through
Chorus: Above the bright blue, the beautiful blue Jesus is
waiting for me and for you Heaven is there, not far from our
sight Beautiful city of light
We know not when He shall call us Whether soon the glad summons
shall be But we know when we pass o'er the river The glory of Jesus
we'll see
Repeat Chorus

No tears in heaven, no sorrow given All will be glory in that
land They'll be no sadness, all will be gladness When we shall join

tears up there Sorrow and pain will all have flown (And they'll be)
No tears (in heaven fair), no tears, no tears up there No tears in

brought to view All will be clearer, saved ones be dearer In heaven
where all will be made new

where we'll never grow old Never grow old, (where we'll) never grow

Lyrics:
I'm satisfied with just a cottage below A little silver and a little
gold But in that city, where the ransomed will shine I want a gold
one, that silver lined
Chorus: I've got a mansion just over the hilltop In that bright
land where we'll never grow old And someday yonder, we will never more
wander But walk the streets that are purest gold
Don't think me poor or deserted or lonely I'm not discouraged, I'm
heaven bound I'm just a pilgrim in search of a city I want a
mansion, a robe, and a crown
Repeat Chorus

we'll understand why Cheer up, my brother, live in the

Does Jesus care when my heart is pained Too deeply for
mirth and song As the burdens press, and the cares distress And

with my grief When the days are weary, the long nights dreary I know
my Savior cares (He cares)
Does Jesus care when I've said "goodbye" To the dearest on earth to
me And my sad heart aches till it nearly breaks Is it aught to Him?
Does He see?
