This is What Love Is

Words and music: John and Dino Elefante © Leshem Songs (BMI)
Lead: Ryan Smith
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

Endless days and long, hard journeys
Mending hearts forever yearning
This is what love is
Healing blind men by His touch
Knowing that He cares so much
This is what love is
Yes, this is what love is

Teaching us to love each other as we love ourselves
Laying down our lives for someone else

Chorus:
And even when we fall
He loves us through it all
His gentle, guiding hand keeps understanding
He knows the tears we cry
He knows our hearts may lie
For us again He would die
Cause that's what love is

This is what love is

Suffering the world's rejection
Sacrifice and resurrection
This is what love is
Yes, this is what love is
And in this world we live in
There are no guarantees
There's one thing I'm sure of
He died and rose for me
His love has surely stood the test of time

Repeat Chorus

This is what love is
This is what love is
He came and gave His life so we could know (gave His life)
This is what love is (this is what love is, this is love)

Repeat Chorus

This is what love is
This is what love is
This is what love is
This is what love is
That's what love is

Scriptural Reference:

"This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers."  1 John 3:16

Lift Him Up

Words and music: Bob Hartman © 1983 Dawn Treader Music - a division of Jubilee Communications, Inc.
This song also appeared on Acappella Classics 2 by The Acappella Company and Acappella Classics Longplay by The Acappella Company.
Lead: Mandy Wilson
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

The world is looking for a revelation
We're always under their investigation
They look at us to hear what we've got to say
They can't see Jesus when we stand in the way

They don't need no more elevated speeches
We're keeping Jesus just beyond their reaches
Can't see the forest for all of the trees
They won't see Jesus 'til we fall to our knees

Chorus 1:
Lift Him up higher and higher
Lift Him up set the world on fire
It doesn't take much theology
Just lift Him up so the world can see
Lift Him up (tell me the story) tell the Gospel story
Lift Him up (they got to see His glory), let them see His glory
It doesn't take any Bible degree
Just lift Him up so the world can see

Lift Him up higher, lift Him up higher
Lift Him up higher, lift Him up higher
Lift Him up higher, lift Him up higher
Lift Him up higher, lift Him up higher

Sometimes they just can't see beyond the haze (Lift Him up higher, lift Him up higher)
Or find their way through the religious maze (Lift Him up higher, lift Him up higher)
Just like Zacchaeus they're trying to see (Lift Him up higher, lift Him up higher)
They've got to somehow see beyond you and me (Lift Him up higher, lift Him up higher)

Chorus 2:
Lift Him up (higher and higher) higher and higher
Lift Him up (world on fire) set the world on fire
It doesn't take much theology
Just lift Him up so the world can see
Lift Him up (tell me the story) tell the Gospel story
Lift Him up (they got to see His glory), let them see His glory
It doesn't take any Bible degree
Just lift Him up so the world can see

How the world needs to see Him
So they can believe Him
How can they ever find Him
If we have denied Him
How can He ever tell them
If they never saw Him
How can they see His glory
Without you and me

(Interlude)

Chorus 3:
Lift Him up (higher and higher) higher and higher
Lift Him up set the world on fire
It doesn't take much theology
Just lift Him up so the world can see
Lift Him up (tell me the story) tell the Gospel story
Lift Him up, let them see His glory (let them see His glory)
It doesn't take any Bible degree
Just lift Him up so the world can see

Just lift, lift Him up

In Christ Alone

Words and music: Andrew Shawn Craig and Donald A. Koch © Paragon Music Corp. (Adm. by New Spring Publishing Inc., ASCAP)
Lead: Aaron Johnson
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

My source of strength
My source of hope
Is Christ alone

In Christ alone will I glory
Though I could pride myself in battles won
For I've been blessed beyond measure
And only by His strength I've overcome (I have overcome)

Oh, I could stop and count successes
Like diamonds in my hand (diamonds in my hand)
But those trophies would not equal
To the grace on which I stand

Chorus 1:
In Christ alone I place my trust
And find my glory in the power of the cross
In every victory, let it be said of me
My source of strength
My source of hope
Is Christ alone

In Christ alone will I glory
Though only by His grace I am redeemed
And only His tender mercies
Can reach beyond my weakness to my needs (reaching to my needs)

Now I seek no greater honor
Than just to know Him more (know Him more)
And to count my gains but losses
For the glory of my Lord

Repeat Chorus 1

Chorus 2:
In Christ alone I place my trust (I place my trust)
And find my glory in the power of the cross (power of the cross)
In every victory, let it be said of me
My source of strength (my source of strength)
My source of hope (my hope)
Is Christ alone

To Him be glory (to Him be glory) in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations
To Him be glory (to Him be glory) in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations (forever and ever)
To Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations

In Christ alone (in Christ alone)
In Christ alone (Christ alone)
In Christ alone (in Christ alone)
In Christ alone

Trials dark on every hand (trials on every hand)
And we cannot understand (can not understand)
All the ways that God would lead us (all the ways that He)
To that blessed promised land (leads us to that land)
But he'll guide us with his eye (guide us with His eye)
And we'll follow till we die (follow till we die)
We will understand it better by and by (by and by)

Chorus:
By (by) and by (and by)
When the morning comes
All the saints of my God are gathering home (saints are gathering, gathering home)
We will tell the story how we've overcome
We will understand it better (understand it)
We will understand it better (understand it)
We will understand it better (understand it)
By and by (by and by)

We will understand it better by and by (by and by)

By and by (by and by)
By and by (by and by)
We will understand it better by and by (by and by)

Temptations hidden snares
Often take us unaware
And our hearts are made to bleed
For some thoughtless word or deed
And we wonder why the test
When we try to do our best
We will understand it better by and by (by and by)

Repeat Chorus

By and by (by and by)
By and by (by and by)
By and by (by and by)

Restin' Easy

Words and music: Traditional
Arrangement: Keith Lancaster © 2002 Anthony K. Music
Lead: Kyle Boyce
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

Oh one of these days I'm going home
To get my blessed reward, oh yeah (I am going home to get my blessed reward)
Said I know that if I keep on walking
I know He'll lead the way, oh yeah (If I walk on I know He'll lead the way)
Said I know that it won't be long
Just a few more days, oh yeah (no it won't be long, just a few more days)
Just as soon as I can see the man
The one that set me free
Standing on the mountain that changed men from Galilee
I know that He'll lead me
And I do believe He'll greet me
Just look at Him, standing with His arms wide open
Waiting just to welcome me

And I'll be restin' (restin' easy)
Restin' easy (restin' easy)
Said I'll be restin' (restin' easy)
Oh yeah (restin' easy)
When I'm finished (restin' easy)
From this walkin' (restin' easy)
No more trials (restin' easy)
Or tribulations (restin' easy)
I said if I, if I get there (I'm gonna get there)
Before, before you do
I said I'll be restin' (restin' easy)
Over there (over on the other shore)
I said I'll be restin' (restin' easy)
Over there (over on the other shore)

Repeat All

I'll be restin' easy (restin' easy)
I'll be restin' easy (restin' easy)
I'll be restin' easy (restin' easy)
Over on the oth-, on that shore

Scriptural Reference:

"You are not to do as we do here today, everyone as he sees fit, since you have not yet reached the resting place and the inheritance the Lord your God is giving you.  But you will cross the Jordan and settle in the land the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance, and he will give you rest from all your enemies around you so that you will live in safety."  Deuteronomy 12:8-10

Listen to Our Hearts

Words and music: Geoffrey Paul Moore and Steven Curtis Chapman © 1999 Songs on the Forefront/Geoff Moore Songs (BMI) and Sparrow Song/Peach Hill Songs (ASCAP)
Lead: Jonathan Hardison
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

How do you explain
How do you describe
A love that flows from east to west
And runs as deep as it is wide
You know all our hopes
Lord, you know all our fears
And words cannot express the love we feel
But we long for you to hear

Chorus:
So listen to our hearts (Oh Lord please listen)
Hear our spirits sing (And hear us sing)
A song a praise that flows (A song of praise that flows)
From those you have redeemed (Those you have redeemed)
We will use the words we know
To tell you what an awesome God you are
But words are not enough (they aren't enough)
To tell you of our love (tell you of our love)
So listen to our hearts

If words could fall like rain (words could fall like rain)
From these lips of mine (from these lips of mine)
And if I had a thousand years
Oh Lord, I would still run out of time
But if you listen to our hearts (listen to our hearts)
Every beat will say (every beat will say)
Thank you for the life
Thank you for the truth
Thank you for the way (thank you for the life)

Repeat Chorus

Listen to our hearts

Repeat Chorus

Scriptural Reference:

"Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask, because we obey his commands and do what pleases him."  1 John 3:21-22

Crucifixion

Words and music: Melissa Lancaster and Ryan Smith © 2002 Anthony K. Music
Spoken Vocal: Kyle Boyce
Sample: Windows Media

Spoken Words:

Jesus went to the Mount of Olives as He was accustomed and His disciples followed Him
Being in agony, He prayed for this task at hand to be removed, but He knew His Father's will would be done
Then a multitude of people, led by Judas, came and took Him to the high priest
There, the man who held Him mocked them, striking the face of God they told Jesus to prophesy who hit Him
They then asked Him, "Are you the Christ?"
Jesus answered, "If I tell you, you won't believe me"
Again they asked, "Are you the Son of God?"
He said to them, "You are right when you say that I am"
The people led Jesus to Pilate where he asked Him, "Are you the King of the Jews?"
"It is as you say," Jesus replied
But Pilate could find no fault in Him, so He was sent to Herod for more questions
But as a lamb before her shearers is silent, He did not open His mouth
Jesus was taken back to Pilate who asked the crowd to release Him, but the crowd shouted "Crucify Him"
So they took Jesus to the Cross

"Father forgive them, they do not understand what they are doing"

But on the third day, the Father looked down and said, "Arise my love!, You have defeated death"
So Jesus arose and ascended into heaven, where He is seated at the right hand of almighty God forever

Scriptural Reference:

"When they came to the place called the Skull, there they crucified him, along with the criminals--one on his right, the other on his left.  Jesus said, 'Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.' And they divided up his clothes by casting lots."  Luke 23:33-34

Wedding Day

Words and music: Brent Lamb © 1982 Jubilee Communications Inc. c/o EMI Christian Music Group (ASCAP)
This song also appeared on Travelin' Shoes by Acappella and The Way by New Covenant.
Lead: Tiera Waldron
Sample: Windows Media

Lyrics:

Lately I've been thinking as I look all around me
I see by the signs that we're soon going to be leaving
The bridegroom is coming to take us all away
May be tomorrow, but I pray that it's today

Chorus:
And we will fly away in the twinkling of an eye
Leaving all our heartaches and telling them all goodbye
And we will fly away when he hears His Father say
"Jesus, go and get your bride, today's your wedding day"

Now when we see the bridegroom in the clouds in the sky
Will He be telling you hello or telling you goodbye?
Oh, be sure and be ready to meet Him face to face
We've got to fight the good fight, we've got to keep our faith

Repeat Chorus (x2)

Scriptural Reference:

"Let us rejoice and be glad and give him the glory. For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready." Revelation 19:7
